Cashew Sauce Recipe with Horseradish

I grew up eating horseradish. My Dad lost his sense of smell when he was younger and so he often craved really strong flavors. He used to put Tabasco sauce on everything! And he loved horseradish sauce! My mom used to make this amazing BBQ sauce with it. I’ll have to dig that recipe up and put it on here.

This cashew sauce is super tasty. I actually poured it on black lentils, but I think tomorrow I’ll try it with pasta. I love, love, love pasta with cream sauce!

Cashew Sauce Recipe with Horseradish

Total Time 10 minutes
Servings 4 people

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cashews (pre-soaked)
  • 1 teaspoon horseradish
  • 3 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 12 Tbsp water
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp garlic granules
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 2 Tbsp vegan butter

Instructions

  1. Put all the ingredients, except the butter, into the food processor and mix for a good minute, maybe longer depending on your machine. The consistency should be very creamy.

  2. In a saucepan on the stove, melt the 2 Tbsp of butter on medium-low.

  3. After the butter has melted, pour the mixture of ingredients into the saute pan and warm for about 30 seconds.

  4. Then serve!
