This Warm Salsa Recipe would make an excellent sauce for pasta. Or serve with tortilla chips as usual. Or better yet, heat up some tortillas and dip those in it! Oh, yum! Any way you do it, this salsa will make your mouth water for more after just one bite.

The chili peppers I used are from a friend’s garden. But they are simply chili peppers that can be bought at any grocery store.

 

Warm Salsa Recipe

Ingredients

  • 5 medium chili peppers (diced)
  • 6 medium tomatoes (diced)
  • 1/4 cup white onion (diced)
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 6 garlic cloves (chopped)
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 juice of whole lemon
  • 1 juice of whole lime
  • 1 cup cilantro (loosely packed)

Instructions

  1. Turn stove to medium high.
  2. In a saute pan, add the oil and onions and saute for about 2 minutes.

  3. Drop in the garlic and cook for about 1 more minute.
  4. Then add the chili peppers.
  5. Cook for about 2 more minutes. Stirring occasionally.
  6. Drop in the tomatoes and the chili powder.

  7. Cook for about 2 more minutes. It should get pretty hot.
  8. Once it starts to boil, turn the heat off, but leave the pan on the stove.
  9. Add in the cilantro, salt, lemon and lime and stir.
  10. Let it cool down on the stove for about 5 minutes, stir occasionally.
